about

"I am ready to accept everything except what seems to be the easy way for most people: half ways, the 'almost', the 'roughly', the compromise."
- Ayn Rand -

Amos Garfunkel - painter
who will?
This is me, Amos Garfunkel and I don't want to compromise my life.
I am an Israeli painter and painting is my way to bring out the best in myself, to explore how far one can go.
There is something very special about the craft of painting, on the one hand you can capture with it the beautiful moments in life, the special sights, and on the other hand create the non-existent, the ideal and the beauty.
I think that an artist's repertoire of works is the sum of all his attempts to reach the perfect work, the work that does not exist. And looking back on the experience, you can say, perfect.

what?
What I paint varies between landscape paintings of nature, urban landscape and still life.
Mainly in the Haifa area, my favorite city.
I paint mainly in oil paints because I feel that they connect me to the great painters of the past, and they are a medium that has no equal, from time to time I paint in other materials depending on what I want to achieve in the painting.

Why?
Why didn't I study art?
The value of artistic studies should not be underestimated, I have no doubt that they can advance any person a thousand steps forward.
It's fun to be inspired by great artists, and it's much easier to have a guiding hand
But I don't want to be directed, I will determine the course of my artistic life, I prefer that people don't
will like my art than they will like art that doesn't feel like mine.
"The purpose of art is to create the beauty that does not exist in our world, and there is a lot of beauty in art"
- Amos Garfunkel -
