Nowadays almost every artist offers for sale prints, prints, stickers, postcards and even NFT. There's nothing wrong with that, a lot of people do it.
I chose not to.
There are several reasons for this:
value
For me, a real painting is not some recycled decoration that a million other people have, a painting is a valuable physical item, with a story, with a history, that you look at and know that there is only one of it in the whole world and here it is right here in front of you, for me personally it's hard to get excited that I'm looking at a print of Drawing, the first thing that comes to my mind is an image of a huge printer spitting out endless drawings, papers, worthless papers.visibility
There is no substitute for an original painting, especially in oil paintings, putty paintings and other paintings with textures (see an example in the picture below). Those with a sharp and trained eye quickly notice the print.
The beauty is in the small things, the bumps of the paint, the brush marks, paint that slipped on the canvas,
The canvas, the canvas.
history
There is no replacement for one and only one original item, a historical item that has gone through a life story itself, that has changed hands, been in places, and will remain after us.Like a quality piece of furniture we got from dad, who got it from his dad.
In contrast to today's industrialized items made in China whose story in a nutshell is: born in China, arrived at the home of a million people and ended his life before a pen when he was thrown in the trash.
the right place
From the moment I sold a painting, I have no control over it, where it will be displayed and where it will travel. But as soon as I sell onlyOriginal paintings and not prints, I know the chance that it will end up in the right hands is higher.
Everyone can buy prints, not everyone can afford to buy the original.
price
Further to the right place, naturally the price of a single item will be higher than an item that has it A thousand copies, the price is the perfect filter for who should own the painting,
What's more, it's very important to me that the value of the works that collectors buy from me should at least be preserved
What's more, it's very important to me that the value of the works that collectors buy from me should at least be preserved
And I also work for their value to increase (as I mentioned in the article " On the price of art ")
